Set up Automated Payments from Your Bank
To make donations to FBC directly from your checking account using electronic transfers.
What's in it for you? Convenience! You don't have to write checks, you don't have to remember to bring your check to church (or mail it), and regular transfers make your record-keeping easier.
What's in it for the church? Much easier "back office" processing, which means the church gets the funds more quickly, and keeping track of who is giving what is much simpler and less error prone.
To set up your test account, follow this link to a company called Paperless Payments, the company that handles the magic of getting our electronic check payments into FBC's bank account.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
As with all matters, we encourage you to be a wise steward before signing up for online giving. Here are a few Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) to help educate you about the service.
How much does the church pay to the payment processor for this service?
FBC pays a flat fee of $1 per transaction. This is a relatively modest fee compared to what other merchants and churches pay to their payment processors, but you should know the service is not free. In other words, the church gets less of your donated dollars compared to you writing a check or giving cash directly. (Even electronic checks that you write using your bank's online bill payment service or your own desktop software such as Quicken or Microsoft Money are free from the church's point of view.)
What does the church get out of this?
Easier processing, immediate access to funds, and more accurate record-keeping. Since we have an all-volunteer accounting and finance team, this system makes it easier for that team to keep track of who is giving what. In addition, rather than waiting to deposit a bunch of checks together, the church can put the money to work in an interest-bearing account right away.
What merchant name will you see on your bank statement?
You will see a company named Quality Attributes along with their phone number. Quality Attributes is the name of the company that provides the Paperless Payment service.
Is the Paperless Payments service secure?
Paperless Payments takes security very seriously. The company uses many security and fraud prevention procedures. This includes using 128-bit Secure Socket Layer (SSL) encryption when transmitting financial data, the same system all reputable on-line banks (like Wells Fargo or Bank or America) and merchants (such as Amazon) use. In addition, data such as your account information resides on secure servers that sit behind an electronic firewall that prevents interference or access from outside intruders. The company tests their security systems regularly and restrict access to personally identifiable information.
