Prayer Letter

Hola FBC. Welcome to this New Year 2011 edition of Generation to Generation.

Before looking ahead to the New Year, I want to take an opportunity to say "muchas gracias " (many thanks) for your prayer and financial support in 2010. It's been an incredible year of ministry!, and you've been a part of it every day of the year.

Thanks for being with me for radio training in places like Venezuela, Ghana (Africa), the United States, Guatemala and here in Ecuador. Emmanuel Ekpeh-Addrey (photo right) was one of the very talented radio producers with us during the radio training in Accra, Ghana with HCJB's Sub-Saharan Africa Region. After I got back from Africa, Emmanuel sent me the following message:

"Appreciation and gratefulness are the two words that I woke-up with this morning. Just as our Lord Jesus Christ came down from heaven to show us the way, you came to 'show' us the way in radio communication. I'm a better communicator now than before thanks to your impact made possible by the Holy Spirit."

What an incredible privilege to have shared the training experience with people like Emmanuel. And you made it possible! Thank you.

In late June I had an opportunity to once again translate for Pastor Miguel Quicaña at the On Eagle's Wings Warriors Leadership Summit. OEW and WLS are ministries to Native American (U.S.) and First Nations (Canada) youth. Pastor Miguel (photo left) is a former senator from Peru and was the first indigenous leader elected to national government. Pastor Miguel and his family were persecuted in Peru for their faith. In fact, he was an eyewitness to the murder of five of his relatives. He would have been killed too had the rebel's gun not jammed.

He gave a powerful, challenging message to the youth at the Warriors Leadership Summit. Thank you for making it possible for his words to be translated into English for our Native American and First Nations brothers and sisters to hear his message.

In November, I had a true Generation to Generation experience when I was able to co-teach with one of my former students from HCJB's Christian Center of Communications. Kristy Liles was in the second group I taught in the CCC over 15 years ago! She is a talented Christian communicator working in Miami, Florida where she lives with her husband and young son. She wrote the following after participating in our training session:

"I want to tell you how happy I feel for having been able to be a part of this training. I’m sure that I learned more than I taught! I want you to know that I admire a lot the work that God has called you to do. I admire more the passion you have for it and want to encourage you to keep on going because you will see the fruit of your efforts in us, your students. Many thanks for this opportunity. May God continue to use you and I’m here to serve when I can. Blessings, Kristy." (Photo right: Kristy is teaching proper breathing for radio announcing.)

And as I mentioned in last week's Generation to Generation, thanks for making it possible to continue in youth ministry. There are so many needs among these youth that it's sometimes hard to know where to begin. Please pray for the youth leadership team (photo left) of Samuel and Cristian as together we prepare to respond to these needs. These young men, along with other Ecuadorian youth, are key to impacting their generation for Jesus Christ! However, Satan doesn't want that to happen. Pray for spiritual, physical and emotional protection for these guys and that their walk with Jesus would be sweeter every day of 2011.

As I shared in early December, thank you for being a part of the ministry at HCJB-2 our FM station in Guayaquil on Ecuador's southwest coast. Join me please in thanking God for the 38-year history of this radio ministry; for the fact that for the first time in its history, HCJB-2 was 100% locally funded in 2010; and for our very successful Sharathon in mid-December to raise the operating funds for 2011. Thank God also for the opportunity that we have as a station to donate to and partner with Fundación Shalom which ministers to high risk children in the Guayas Province. (Photo right: Luis Mora, Director of HCJB-2, and I with some of the children at Fundación Shalom.)

As we look ahead to 2011, let me thank you in advance for continuing to walk with me through prayer and giving. Please pray specifically for the need of increased monthly financial support. In 2010, several donors had to stop giving or decrease their gift due to the financial situation in the United States. In order to be at the minimum recommended support level for my mission, I need to raise $450 of additional monthly support. Thank you for praying for this need. I have no doubt that God will provide as He has faithfully done so since I came to the mission field in August 1992.

Thank you for reading this Year End Summary edition of  Generation to Generation. And, yes, this is only a summary. There was so much more, and you made it possible! How exciting! And what's even more exciting is that God has even greater things ahead for us in 2011! You are a most valuable part of the team!

As always, thank you for touching my life and in so doing, reaching out to touch Emmanuel, Pastor Quicaña, Kristy, Cristian, Samuel, HCJB-2, Fundación Shalom and so many others . Happy New Year  from the Middle of the World!

Allen.
