Please continue to pray for us and our work here in Hong Kong. A lot has happened since I last wrote you.
We are preparing for our furlough. We had some friends give us a large amount of money to help us buy our plane tickets. We still lack some of the money needed to move back to the US, but we are a lot closer than we were two weeks ago. We thank the Lord that He has given us supporters who are willing to sacrifice for the Lord's work like that. We have also had several requests from churches to come to conferences in the fall. I am in the process of scheduling those. I am also trying to find a home in the Greenville, SC area and a large vehicle for our family touse during furlough. We checked into houses and SUV's or vans. One place I wrote about leasing a van is asking us to pay $1200 a month. We cannot afford that, so they suggested we buy instead, but we do not have money for a deposit to buy. If anyone knows of a way to get a vehicle that seats at least 8 and has a lot of luggage area, let me know. If you know of a good home in Greenville, let me know also. We looked into a place where missionaries can live for free, but it is far from our supporters, and they do not seem to have a house big enough for our family.
We are also trying to find a family to live in our house here for the time we will be gone. Pray that the Lord will provide. If not, we will have to move all our stuff into a storage facility, which would be at least $650 per month. Obviously finding someone to live here and pay the rent would be best.
Matthew and Michelle Conrad, missionaries who have been here for 4 years during language learning and working in another church, have agreed to move over to lead our church during our furlough. We will meet next week to talk about plans for the work.
Please pray for a neighbor lady and her son who are now coming ot our church. The child goes to a Christian school and seems to be saved, but we ask you to pray for his Mom to be saved. Pray I can get to know the father also. Continue to pray for men to be saved, including husbands of ladies in our church, the neighbors of the church whose son I am teaching, and my other students.
Pray also for Jonathan. We had MRI's and a consultation with an orthopedic doctor. There are no bone problems that cause his pains, etc. However, the doctor mentioned a disturbing possibility that may be causing all his symptoms. We will see a neurologist now to try to get a diagnosis confirmed. Pray for God's wisdom. Thanks so much.
